...and call me Antonia
Images
. . . and call me Antonia is a performance, which through the movement thematize female body in today’s pop culture. Figure of a female body is robbed of personality, emotions and is presented only as an object of pleasure. Pleasure derives from observing its power, which is noticeable but appears as absent, and not from the power which is being expressed. The female body is an idea, an object, given to be judged and evaluated. The ambience of a peep show places the viewer in the role of a voyeur, while the performers rely on extravagant behavior in order to attract the viewer’s attention.
The performance … and call me Antonia is a continuation and development of the work HabitsAreWorthBeingFanaticalAbout (HAWBA) by Fajdiga and Križaj, which was first presented in 2007 in Danswerkplaats, Amsterdam.
